The School of Accountancy (SoA) is pleased to have a number of graduate assistantships available for students in the M.Acc. and J.D./M.Acc. programs. Each SoA assistantship is for one semester. A student awarded an assistantship for one semester may apply for an assistantship for another semester. How to Apply

Send your resume, your unofficial transcript, and a brief letter to CoBASoA@siu.edu by the applicable due date (below). In your letter, describe your strengths, classes which you would like to be a GA, and how you can support the School and our students. You must send all materials in ONE email submission.

Fall Semester Important Dates

  • Application Period Opens: February 1
  • Application Deadline: May 1
  • Final Decisions Made: May 31

Spring Semester Important Dates

  • Application Period Opens: September 1
  • Application Deadline: December 1
  • Final Decisions Made: December 20
Only those who have submitted full, complete applications to the M.Acc. or J.D./M.Acc. programs will be considered for an assistantship in the School of Accountancy.

Typical TA assignments could be for the following courses:

  • Auditing: ACCT 460
  • Cost and Managerial Accounting: ACCT 230, 331, 431
  • Financial Accounting: ACCT 220, 321, 322, 421
  • Information Systems: ACCT 360, ACCT 460
  • Tax: ACCT 341, 441
